Actions and Responsibilities

To ensure the smooth running and successful completion of the Apprenticeship, both the Centre and Toyota Academy need to accept responsibility for a number of activities.

Centre

  • The training programme is strictly followed
  • The self-study material is completed on time
  • A member of staff is appointed to oversee the Apprentice and act as a link with Toyota Scheme staff
  • Career wear is provided
  • The Apprentice is assisted in collecting evidence for their portfolio
  • The cost of the Apprentice's travel from home to the National Training Centre and hotel accommodation whilst on block release

Toyota Academy

  • Scheme administration
  • Full support with recruitment and selection
  • Provision of all training and self-study materials
  • Apprentice welfare while on block release
  • NVQ registration and assessment fees

Some Centres find retention policies of value in emphasising mutual commitment and creating loyalty to the Centre. These normally take the form of short term endowment policies which are funded by the Centre for the benefit of the Apprentice on completion of a specified number of years' employment - e.g. seven years. If the Apprentice leaves the Centre before this time, the benefit of the policy falls to the Centre.
