What its all about
Toyota is at the heart of global manufacturing, a company that has grown within 70 years to become the world's largest vehicle manufacturer.
As it addresses the challenges of the 21st century, Toyota continues to lead the world in terms of developing and realising new transport and production solutions while respecting and protecting the global environment.
The United Kingdom is a key market for Toyota both in terms of sales and manufacturing. TMUK - Toyota Motor Manufacturing (UK) Ltd - was established in December 1989. Vehicle manufacturing is located at Burnaston, Derbyshire, and began operations in 1992. It is the sole production centre for the Toyota Avensis, and also builds the Toyota Auris. Engine manufacturing is located at Deeside, North Wales and produces a range of engines for Toyota plants throughout Europe.
Toyota has invested in excess of £1.7 billion in it's UK plants and currently employs over 5,000 people. In 2006 TMUK produced over 282,000 vehicles and 438,000 engines.
We firmly believe that a group of motivated people can achieve far more than the sum of their individual efforts. As such, everything at Toyota revolves around teamwork, which creates mutual trust and respect that extends across all levels of the organisation. Plus, of course, everyone shares an immense sense of pride in contributing to the manufacture of a superior quality product.
Our main priority is to grow and prosper as a company. Since we rely on our people to achieve this goal, we make sure we invest in them in terms of training, support and benefits. We aim to provide security and opportunities for progression too.
Our Maintenance Team Members work to maintain the plant's machinery and equipment, while improving processes to minimise disruption to the line. On satisfactory completion of your apprenticeship you'll become a valued member of this maintenance team, working right at the heart of our operation with the opportunity to develop and broaden your skills in this most demanding and fast-moving of automotive environments.
During your apprenticeship you will spend some time experiencing work in both production and maintenance environments before being fully trained to carry out the stimulating role of a maintenance member in Toyota. You'll learn about electricity, electronics, computer control systems, robots, pneumatic and hydraulic systems as well as taking part in personal and Toyota way development courses which will see you undertaking tasks and expeditions in an outdoor, experiential learning environment.
We're looking for people who get a buzz out of making things better and who possess a real commitment to learn and deliver consistently. In return, you can look forward to a work environment that's built on teamwork, a training programme that's second to none, a commitment to ongoing training and progression and an excellent package of benefits, including pension, private health care and car lease plan.
